About the Coalition of Muslim Women of KW (CMW)
Founded in 2010 by a small group of passionate Muslim women, the Coalition of Muslim Women of KW (CMW) is a charitable organization that amplifies the voices of racialized women and youth while working to eliminate gender-based violence, racism, Islamophobia, and other forms of discrimination.
CMW provides opportunities for leadership, civic engagement, and culturally responsive programs rooted in lived experience. We are guided by anti-oppression, trauma-informed care, and community care principles. Employment opportunities at CMW are open to all qualified women and gender-diverse people, regardless of faith or religion, who align with our values and our commitment to equity and dignity for all.

About the Dar al-Aman Transitional Housing Program
CMW’s Transitional Housing Program provides culturally grounded, trauma informed housing to racialized women, and racialized women with children, experiencing homelessness, unsafe living conditions, or housing instability. Eligibility is based solely on housing need, with no requirements related to religion, immigration status, or family makeup.
The home includes 20 private rooms for single women in shared units and 2 family units for women with children. Residents co-create personalized Housing and Wellness Plans focused on long-term housing stability, financial security, and overall wellbeing – including emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical care.
This program is built for and with racialized, newcomer, immigrant, and refugee women. Supports include housing navigation, employment and income support, short-term therapy, peer-based cultural care, parenting resources, and post-transition follow-up for at least three months after residents leave.
CMW’s Transitional Housing Program is not just a refuge – it’s a place to reconnect with hope, rebuild identity, and begin again with support and community.
